A+ Renovation

Renovating a Budapest
apartment from abroad

You hand over the keys. You get back a finished apartment.

Two thirds of our clients do not live in Budapest. You do not need to be here for the work, and you should not need a flight to make a decision.

  • English and Hungarian.
  • One person to deal with, throughout.
  • A fixed price after the survey.
  • Payment in stages set out in the contract.

What is actually hard about not being here?

Not the distance. It is that you cannot check what you are told, and you cannot stop the work when something starts going the wrong way. So the job is built to not need checking.

What you do

  • Get the keys to us.
  • Choose the tiles, the flooring, the colours and the kitchen.
  • Approve the quote and the schedule.
  • Pay in the stages set out in the contract.

What we do

  • Survey the apartment and send the quote with photographs.
  • Carry out the whole job, from strip-out to handover.
  • Deal with the building: notices, access and timings.
  • Order the materials at trade prices if you want us to.

How it works in practice

  1. One call or one email.

You tell us where the apartment is, how big it is and what you want. None of that needs you to be here.

  2. We get access.

The agent, a neighbour, a relative or anyone holding a key lets us in. If nobody can, we agree how the keys reach us.

  3. Survey and written quote.

We measure the apartment, photograph it, and email you an itemised price and a schedule.

  4. You choose.

Tiles, flooring, colours, kitchen, sanitaryware. We send links and samples, you decide, and we record the decision in writing.

  5. The work.

One person to call or write to at any time. If a decision is needed mid-job, we tell you before, not after.

  6. Handover.

If you can come, we walk through the apartment together. If not, we agree who can take it over on your behalf.

Language and time zone

We work in English and in Hungarian. You will not need a translator, and you will not have to work out what a Hungarian quote says.

We are reachable Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm Central European Time. If you are in another time zone, email us and you will have a reply by the next day we are open.

One person. One number. Call any time.

If a decision is needed, we call you first. Not afterwards.

The same person handles your job from start to finish, so you never have to work out who to ask. If something turns up once the walls are open, we stop, call you, and write down what the options are and what each costs. The price and the schedule are in the contract, so they are not yours to keep track of.

Questions from owners abroad

I cannot be there for the survey. Is that a problem?

No. Someone has to let us in: the agent, a neighbour, a relative, anyone holding a key. We photograph the survey and go through it with you on the phone.

How do the keys reach you?

Whichever way is easiest for you. Anyone you authorise can hand them over, or we arrange a time when you are next in Budapest. We confirm the key handover in writing.

How do I pay from abroad?

By bank transfer, in stages, following the schedule in the contract. Each stage is paid at its start, and the final instalment is due after handover.

Who chooses the materials if I cannot go to a shop?

You do. We send links, product references and samples, you decide, and the decision goes in writing. We can order them at trade prices.

What happens if a problem appears during the work?

We stop and call you before doing anything. We write down what has been found, the two or three options and what each costs. You decide.

If I cannot come to the handover, who takes it over?

Anyone you authorise. If there is nobody, we wait until you can come to Budapest and keep the apartment locked until then.

Write to us and we will look at the apartment.

The survey is free, and afterwards you get a fixed price and a schedule in writing.
